sorry i missed last night

Last night was so busy that I didn't get around to blogging. Yesterday we cleaned grafitti, handed out drinks, worked on projects around the church and went to the rcmp sunset ceremony.  Today we finished the mural (the girls did an awesome job), finished up other projects, played soccer, and participated in the church brazilian corn festival. Tomorrow samantha and david will share their testimony in worship. I will be preaching with pastor santos translating into portuguese. We will be very busy packing, saying goodbyes, and going to the canada day celebration. All kids are exhausted. All adults are too. Pray for us to rest well tonight and serve well tomorrow.  More stories will come tomorrow if possible.  Goodnight folks and thanks for your comments. They are nice to read and feel encouraged.

another amazing night...

But what else can you expect from an amazing group of kids. Today some went to hand out the remaining flowers that were left from yesterday. Some worked more on our church projects. Others went to a local school to help. Samantha made friends with a homeless man while handing out flowers. We took the afternoon off and went to a mall to relax some.  Worship tonight was intense. The music was beautiful, the drama was very direct and well received, and christines testimony left everyone in tears again. God is at work here and we are all feeling it. Soul surfer was a great movie for us to show tonight. We are exhausted with much more work to go but it is oh so worth it. Pray for our rest and our energy level. We love you. Enjoy the pic from the movie night.

wonderful night

I want to start with a story from last night. At dinner, Samantha about had a fit when the waitress said "eh". It was priceless.  Ok so today.  Some of us worked at the Overbrook food bank while some of us worked on projects at church.  A lot of work got done. Kelsey and crew are doing great work on the first mural in the nursery. The church ladies are so happy with it. This afternoon some went around handing out flowers to neighbors of the church. Lots of great connections made with people. Tonights worship service was one that if you weren't there you should be sad. Amazing music, beautiful prayers, moving testimonies by jordan h and erin and an extremely impactful drama starring ms. Samantha.  Tonight we are relaxing and having fun. Tomorrow is more work, a brief service, and showing the movie soul surfer. Pray that our energy levels will be constant even though we lack sleep.  Thanks for the comments so far. We are enjoying hearing from home. By the way, the service is recorded so you can watch it later. Love you guys and goodnight

internet!

Greetings blog followers.  We are out to eat in the Byward Market. Today was a mix of frustrating yet productive. It always takes a bit to get our legs under us as we begin to work. Flyers were passed out in the community and lots of work at church was done. We are about ready for tomorrow nights service. Jordan H was able to put her french to work as they walked around.  We reconnected with our friend Mehdi today. Lots of great things are beginning to happen.  Pray for us as we look forward to leading our first service tomorrow. Thanks to emily for updating yesterday via text. I will try to get a post up tomorrow night.  Love to those back home

Hi, from Emily! No, I didn't miss Brian so much that I hopped on a plane to Canada; I'm blogging from our house. Brian informed me by text message that they have no internet access currently and asked me to post for him. The team arrived safely in Ottawa and received a wonderful welcome, including a delicious spaghetti dinner. After all their hours of travel, they are already hard at work preparing for their projects and setting up sound equipment. Brian is hopeful that he will have internet access tomorrow. Please remember to pray for our whole team. In addition, please pray for the following individual team members tonight: Jessie Bridges, Will Winters, and Brandan Harden; tomorrow: Karen Diaz, Natalie Barger, Jon Schumann, and Kelsey Rochelle. Remember, you can post any messages you want shared with the group as comments. God bless you all!

Arrived in Harrisburg

Travel days are not that exciting so I won't take much time to post but we have arrived safely in Harrisburg, Pa. We will meet at breakfast at 7 and get back on the road by 730 (hopefully).  Our aim is to be at Eastview Baptist Church by 4.  This morning's service was great! Thanks to all those who are praying for us.  Tomorrow night will be the first group devotion so feel free to leave messages for the team.  We will read them when we are together.  Now for rest.  Tomorrow will be a big day!

All Packed and Ready

After 10 months of planning, our departure is finally tomorrow.  The team this year consists of 24 youth, 2 college students, and 6 adults for a grand total of 32.  Prayers have already been answered as Jenny got her passport delivered to her this morning at 9:30 a.m.  Tomorrow we will worship together and then pile into the vehicles to head to Harrisburg, PA to spend the night.  Each night during group time we will read comments that are left on this blog.  A prayer guide will be included in the bulletin tomorrow.  We hope that you can join us tomorrow for worship and send your prayers with us as our adventure begins.
